Branch Into Music

About Anne ...

Anne Belcher (B.Mus, B.A (Psychology), Dip.Ed) is the mum of two boys, aged 12 and 14 and has been a teacher for over 20 years.

She lives on a beautiful little acreage, just out of Ballarat (in Victoria, Australia) with her husband, Steve, their boys, their beloved sheep-dog (Clancy the kelpie), their sheep and chooks.

Branch Into Music was born in 2008 when Anne was a brand-new mum and her first little son would not settle!!!

With a Music Degree, a Psychology Major (in her Arts Degree) and several years of teaching experience, Anne was blown away with the power of music to calm and soothe her baby – when she sang to him, when she rocked him to the beat, when she relaxed and moved her body to the music that made her happy (with her bub in her arms) …

Anne shared her experience with the other mums at playgroup, practised on her friends and their children, had another baby, got all that “mum experience” … and the rest is history!

Branch Into Music started with a few friends in Anne’s lounge room and grew organically as her boys grew up.

Fourteen years later, Anne has helped hundreds of local families and early years educators gain the confidence they need to use music and musical activities to promote important areas of development in early childhood.

She has spoken at national conferences and run workshops for educators on behalf of the Early Learning Association of Australia (ELAA), Community Early Learning Australia (CELA) and Early Childhood Australia (ECA).

Anne also loves sharing her passion with pre-service teachers at Federation University, where she teaches in the Masters of Early Childhood Education program.

Over Victoria’s lengthy COVID lockdowns in 2020 and 2021, Anne took the opportunity to move her programs online, and is delighted to now be able to share her passion for music in the early years with educators and families all over the world!
